‘…the rendering of the shadows and the fall of certain garments lead one to believe that this is a model for a sculpted altarpiece, such as the one in the church of St Amand in Roisin. Although the drawing in the Louvre was not created for Roisin, the relationship between the two works attests to the knowledge of this sheet among the sculptors of Hainaut in the first half of the 15th century’.
