…to be held on the 5th November 2014 in Düsseldorf. Viewing: 20th October – 5th November 2014
Many thanks for this- some lovely frames.
Have you seen the catalogue for the auction in Paris on 17th October(Olivier Lasseron)?- there’s a copy in the National gallery library. Lot 245- 17th century reverse profile Italian of interest to me in particular as it’s similar to the frame on the NG’s Corot “View of Avignon from the west”.
Incidentally, you can photograph in the NG now- an utter nightmare for those of us trying to look at/ draw from / teach in front of the paintings, but useful if you want to photograph the frames on the pictures…
thanks again, Robert
Dear Robert –
Thank you for such a nice comment. No, I haven’t seen the Paris catalogue; France seems slightly less clubbable than other countries when it coming to sharing things… Are you after the Italian reverse frame for one of your own paintings? What a brilliant thing if you are!
I do agree about the photography question; I’m torn in two, since as an art historian I want peace & quiet & no selfies in a gallery, and as a frame historian I really need the opportunity to photograph paintings in their frames (with details). I still think that the solution is a time of day when phtographs may be taken, and otherwise, not…
Good luck with your exhibition – Lynn
No – I haven’t seen it yet; probably too expensive, as in Paris… I’ll try to have a look. Did you see the post for the 12th Conzen sale? – afraid that it’s gone, now, but it’s rather more current, and perhaps there are unsold items.
Glad that you enjoyed the 11th cat!
